Zeeland is rather far from Groningen, so I decided to make this trip a full weekend excusrsion.
On Friday evening I took the 4.5 hours train ride from Groningen to Middelburg and took a short walk in Middelburg.
On Saturday I did a loop ride (riding Bromp) to the southwest, including a visit to the western-most point of the Netherlands and including about 17 minutes in Belguim. 96.2km (plus 12.8km on two ferry rides), 12 windmills (due to some bug I lost the tracking data for the last 7km or so and had to reproduce the end of the route by hand).
On Sunday I rode to Rotterdam and then took the train to Groningen. 113km, 22 windmills (it's getting ridiculous), and a ride through parts of the famed Dutch Delta Works.
I have now cycled in all 12 Dutch provinces! Drenthe, Flevoland, Friesland, Gelderland, Groningen, Limburg, North Brabant, North Holland, Overijssel, South Holland, Utrecht, and Zeeland.
This completes my 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 step east-to-west traverse of the Netherlands.
